CA Foundation Registration Process

The first step towards commencing your CA journey involves getting registered for CA foundation examination, an entry level examination which is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) twice a year. In case, a candidate misses the due date to register for the form, he/she will have to pay the late registration fee in addition to the normal charges within the prescribed period of time as laid down by the ICAI.

Once registered, the application of candidates will be valid till three years and can be renewed for three more years after paying the revalidation fees. Now, let’s take a look at the steps involved in getting yourself registered for the foundation programme.


Process for registering for CA Foundation 2021

The foremost step to apply for the foundation course involves getting registered with the Board of Studies (BOS) and completing the four month study period

The candidates must qualify the eligibility criteria laid down by ICAI for CA Examination before registering for the Foundation course. Following are the steps to register for the Foundation course:

1. In order to register for the course, visit the official website - www.icai.org

2. Click on the ‘Students’ tab and then click on the ‘Course Registration Form’.

3. Now, open the ‘Application Registration Form for Foundation’ on a new tab.

4. Enter all the essential details like Salutation, Name, Date of Birth, E-mail address, Mobile No., Nationality, etc.

5. After completing the details, click on the ‘Generate OTP’ button. Enter the Captcha code appearing in the box and finally submit the form.

6. Once you receive the OTP on your mobile no., enter it and click on the button ‘Validate OTP’.

7. A confirmation message will appear. Read it and click on the ‘OK’ button. A mail will be sent to you by the officials mentioning your credentials. Take a note of the ‘User ID’ and ‘Password’ generated for future purposes.

8. Using the ‘User ID’ and ‘Password’, login to your account and click on ‘Student Cycle’ and finally apply for Foundation.

9. Enter all your personal details such as father’s name, mother’s name, your address, Pin code, category, etc. Save and proceed to the next step.

10. Upload the scanned images of your passport size photograph, signature and other original documents. Click on Save and proceed to the next step.

11. Once you have successfully uploaded the images, you need to pay the prescribed fees. The payment of fees can be made through online mode. Once you pay the fees, the system will automatically generate the CA foundation exam form with a successful transaction message. Save it for future reference.

CA Foundation Application Fees 2021

Apart from paying the registration fees, one has to submit the application fees for CA Foundation along with it which is stated as follows:

1. The application fee for Indian exam centres is Rs. 1500. In case, a candidate gets late to fill the application fee, he/she will have to pay an additional fee of Rs. 600.

2. The application fee for Katmandu (Nepal) exam centre is Rs. 2200 and the late application fee in case a candidate delays in paying the fee is US $10.

3. The application fee for overseas centres like Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Muscat is US $325 and the late application fee is US $10.


Documents required for CA Foundation Registration

1. Attested copy of class 12th Admit Card / Mark Sheet issued by the respective board.

2. Passport size coloured photograph of the candidate.

3. Attested copy of proof of special category certificate i.e SC / ST, OBC, Differently abled.

4. Attested copy of Class 10th Marksheet / Admit Card of containing the candidate’s Name & Date of Birth.

5. Attested copy of proof of nationality for foreign students.

6. Printout of online successful registration form in hard copy along with the candidate’s signature.
